Her performances, from Michael Daugherty’s Trail of Tears to a memorable October 2022 concert at Carnegie Hall honoring Lukas Foss’s centennial, showcase her artistic range.
As an esteemed professor at the University of Michigan, Porter mentors emerging musicians and leads intensive flute residencies across local colleges. Through her Blue Flute Studio, she provides essential resources, including exercises and audition materials, to ready the next generation of flutists.
Since 2020, Amy has hosted the popular “PorterFlute Pod” podcast and launched her Anatomy of Sound™ AOS-Wellness website, featuring a curriculum dedicated to peaceful breathing, yoga, and meditation. These platforms emphasize self-care as a cornerstone of a thriving musical career.
Porter is also the visionary behind VoiceBox 3-D LLC, where she innovates teaching tools like “My Breathing Buddy,” merging her musical expertise with entrepreneurial spirit. Porter is part of Trio Virado, alongside violist Jaime Amador and guitarist João Luiz. They recently recorded their second album “Trialogue”. Previously, their recording Mangabeira was lauded in the American Record Guide who described them as “...the perfect Trio.”
